Description

Echoing is what defines the Type 1 unit: every character arriving on the RS232 link is returned to the host along with the reply message.

A single unit serves one VESDAnet, carrying as many as 40 VESDA detectors, with the address range split into 7 logical networks. Detector Type reporting covers VLP, VLS, VLC and VLF. Secondary monitoring is the role recommended for this interface - fire alarms, together with the other notifications a VESDAnet passes on. The interface is also suitable for primary reporting, once integrated and approved or listed jointly with whichever fire panel or other primary reporting system receives the report, under the fire standards and codes in force.

VHX-0400 is the ModBus HLI - Type 1 of the Xtralis VESDA ModBus HLI range, an interface between a VESDAnet and any PC monitoring tool, BMS or FACP that supports the ModBus protocol. Type 1 echoes each character received on the RS232 link back to the host together with reply message.

One ModBus HLI is used to interface to a VESDAnet, up to a maximum of 40 VESDA detectors, and it works with VESDAnet detector zone numbers between 1 to 200. The Modbus HLI divides the address range into 7 logical networks, so the first 30 addresses are considered in network 1, addresses between 31 to 60 are in network 2 and so on.

Detector Type (VLP, VLS, VLC, VLF) is reported to the host. By recommendation a VESDA HLI does secondary monitoring work, though primary reporting is also suitable; put to that duty it must first be integrated and approved or listed together with the fire panel or reporting system it feeds, against the applicable fire standards and codes.
