The VHX-0400 is a VESDA Modbus High Level Interface, Type 1, linking a VESDAnet network with PC software, Building Management Systems and Fire Alarm Control Panels that support the Modbus protocol. Type 1 echoes each character received on the RS232 link back to the host together with the reply. It supports up to 200 VESDA devices, including a maximum of 40 detectors, with zone numbers from 1 to 200, and runs on 24 VDC at 70 mA quiescent.
Technical overview
VHX-0400 is a Xtralis VESDA ModBus HLI - Type 1, a high-level interface designed to link a VESDAnet network with PC software monitoring tools, Building Management Systems, and Fire Alarm Control Panels that support the Modbus protocol. It echoes each character received on the RS232 link back to the host along with the reply message, a feature distinguishing it from the Type 2 variant. The device supports up to 200 VESDA devices, including a maximum of 40 detectors, with zone numbers ranging from 1 to 200 across seven logical networks.
Operating on 24 VDC with a quiescent current of 70 mA (1.68 W), the VHX-0400 measures 188 mm x 98 mm x 40 mm and weighs 0.4 kg. It provides RS-232 and RS-485 host interfaces and connects via a VESDAlink RS-232 9-way serial cable and a VESDAnet RS-485 15-way cable for connectivity. Compatible with VLP, VLS, VLC, and VLF VESDA detectors, it does not include modem support. The product carries a two-year warranty.
