Description
The Gent S4M-S is a sounder-only head for ceiling mounted fire alarm warning where detection is provided separately. It fits the S4-700 base and takes power from the loop. The S-Quad S4M AV range works with Vigilon and Vigilon Compact systems fitted with current EN54 loop cards. The S4M sounder range provides adjustable volume and a gradual start to the alarm sound. The white head is supplied with an orange dust cover. It needs controller software 4.64 or later, loop software 4.58 or later and commissioning tool 1.40 or later. The AV range head measures 117mm across and 63mm high.

The S4M sounder range has an average output of 85dBA at 1m, or 75dBA at 3m at a bedhead. Volume can be adjusted at the device, and soft start increases the sound gradually to its set level. The range monitors its sounder function for failure.
The S4M range plugs into the S4-700 base, mounted on a metal back box with earth continuity maintained around the loop. Loop wiring uses screened two-core fire-rated cable with conductors from 1.5mm² to 2.5mm². The base provides the connection between the head and the panel loop.
The S4M range works with Vigilon and Vigilon Compact systems fitted with current EN54 loop cards. These AV-only models need MCC/MCB software 4.64 or later, LPC software 4.58 or later and commissioning tool 1.40 or later. S4M outputs need a sector assignment and their output functions configured during commissioning.
The S4M AV range has a white RAL 9010 housing, a head diameter of 117mm and a head height of 63mm. S4M environmental limits are IP21C, -10°C to +50°C in operation and -20°C to +70°C in storage, with up to 95% non-condensing relative humidity at +5°C to +45°C. The Battery Standby and Loop Load calculator is used to establish loop loading, cable length and standby requirements.
