Overview

What it is and how it fits the system.

The XCL-VEA-CO2VV-RA is a VESDA Sensepoint XCL aspirated carbon dioxide (CO2) gas detector that inserts in-line into a VESDA-E VEA micro bore tube network, set to 5.0% v/v and adjustable from 1.0 to 5.0% v/v. It provides 0 to 22 mA analogue output plus relays, runs on 24V DC nominal and is rated IP65 in a 113 x 113 x 59 mm polycarbonate housing.

Technical overview

XCL-VEA-CO2VV-RA places carbon dioxide monitoring directly within a VESDA-E VEA micro bore tube network: an Xtralis VESDA Sensepoint XCL aspirated gas detector in the 4-20 mA relay version. Set to 5.0% v/v and adjustable down to 1.0% v/v, the detector inserts in-line to the tube network, connecting to the 6 mm (1/4 in) OD micro bore tube through flexible tubes.

Signals leave the unit three ways — an analogue output spanning 0 to 22 mA, Modbus RTU digital communications and a pair of relays — allowing integration with fire alarm control panels, PLCs, HVAC and building management systems. VSC and VSM4 provide remote access to detectors over Modbus, a compatible smart device running iOS 10 or Android 4.3 and above connects from up to 10 m away over Bluetooth 4.0 (mobile device dependent), and integral LEDs show alarm status at the detector.

The XCL-SC-CO2VV replacement sensor cartridge renews the CO2 sensing element, while the accessory list covers the XCL-VEA-CAL calibration/flow cap, XCL-VEA-TUB tubing interface, XCL-FILTER replacement filters, XCL-M20-CG cable glands and XCL-COVER sensor cover. Electrical safety conforms to EN/UL/IEC61010-1 and is certified to CSA-C22.2 No. 61010-1-12, EMC approval is CE - EMC; EN 50270, radio approvals are RED, FCC, BT SIG, and terminal connections and the tube insertion procedure are detailed in the installation manual.
