VSP-810 is the Xtralis VESDA Smoke Pen, a test and commissioning tool used to generate smoke when exercising an aspirating smoke detection system. The operating principle mirrors a mechanical pencil: a wick is inserted into the pen, which then leaves a 10 mm trace as the test proceeds.
The point of the design is consistency. The smoke trail produced is continuous and consistent, giving the system under test a repeatable smoke source and making whole-system smoke tests simpler to carry out.
Wicks are refillable, and VSP-811 is catalogued as the matching refill of six. Cross-reference records also list equivalent codes for the same tool: F-SP and SMOKEPEN both map to the VSP-810 pen, while F-SP-REFILL corresponds to the VSP-811 wick refill.
