The VHX-1400 is the wall-mounted VESDA Modbus High Level Interface, Type 1, linking a VESDAnet network with host systems, BMS or Fire Alarm Control Panels that support the Modbus protocol. Type 1 echoes each character received on the RS232 link back to the host together with the reply message. It supports up to 200 VESDA devices and runs on 24 VDC at 70 mA quiescent (1.68 W).
Technical overview
The VHX-1400 is the VESDA Wall-mounted ModBus High Level Interface (HLI) Type 1, linking a VESDAnet network with host systems such as PC software, Building Management Systems (BMS) or Fire Alarm Control Panels (FACPs) that support the Modbus protocol. This Type 1 variant echoes each character received on the RS232 link back to the host together with the reply message, helping to ensure reliable bidirectional communication for monitoring and control applications.
It supports up to 200 VESDA devices, including a maximum of 40 detectors and associated ancillary devices, and operates on a 24 VDC supply with a quiescent current consumption of 70 mA (1.68 W). The unit is designed for wall mounting with a mounting point of Ø 6.5mm and measures 280 mm x 185 mm x 55 mm (11.0 in. x 7.3 in. x 2.2 in.), weighing 1.0 kg (2.2 lbs).
