VESDA Metal Box HLI - Peer to Peer

Secondary monitoring of fire alarms and other VESDAnet notifications is the recommended duty for VESDA HLIs, which are also suitable for primary reporting, whether to the fire panel or to another primary reporting system. Primary reporting requires the unit to be approved or listed with the receiving panel or system, and integrated into it, for the applicable fire standards and codes.

VHX-1300 is the wall-mounted Open Protocol HLI (Peer-to-Peer) in the VESDA range, connecting a VESDAnet to the host - PC software monitoring tools, a Building Management System (BMS) or a Fire Alarm Control Panel (FACP). A built-in VESDAnet interface means a remote VESDAnet socket module is not needed.

In the peer-to-peer model, the host polls the HLI for information about devices on VESDAnet, while the HLI sends unsolicited messages to the host, so both the HLI and host are responsible for supervising the communications link between them. The host can also request and receive multiple messages from the HLI.

Direct access and monitoring of your entire VESDAnet system is what the interface provides. Display info covers alarm thresholds and location name, display update carries smoke level with alarm and fault status, and Mimic Mode is supported for VLP/VLC/VLS. For a VESDA HLI the recommended application is secondary monitoring of fire alarms and other VESDAnet notifications; it is also suitable for primary reporting, whether that goes to a fire panel or to another primary reporting system, provided the unit has first been integrated with that panel or system and approved or listed with it, under the fire standards and codes that govern the installation.
