Description

The Gent SAFE-WHITE-S-SPARE is a white single SAFE button with a wiring loom for replacing the switch in an installed system. Its one position tests local alarms in normal conditions and silences them during the initial smoke-alert delay. A red LED shows when the control is active. The switch connects to an S4-34450 interface on a Vigilon Plus or Vigilon Compact Plus system. The cable run from switch to interface is limited to 30m. Area delays are set during commissioning. The switch is 85mm high and 85mm wide, with a depth of 25mm plus the terminal block. Test the local alarms each month in normal conditions.

The SAFE-WHITE-S-SPARE replaces the white single SAFE switch and includes its wiring loom. It connects to the S4-34450 interface used for the alarm area. The interface is a separate part from the replacement switch and loom.

Read the full technical description

The SAFE-WHITE-S-SPARE replaces the white single SAFE switch and includes its wiring loom. It connects to the S4-34450 interface used for the alarm area. The interface is a separate part from the replacement switch and loom.

The single button uses a downward hold for both functions. In normal conditions it starts a local alarm test; during the initial smoke-alert delay it silences the area alarms. Hold it until the red LED lights to activate either function. Interface channel 1 handles silence and test, and channel 3 drives the red LED. Channels 2 and 4 are unused in this configuration.

The SAFE range works with Vigilon Plus and Vigilon Compact Plus panels with MCC or MCB software V4.57 minimum and LPC software V4.52 minimum. Configure the area and interface with Commissioning Tool V1.34. Where a printer connects through an IOC, that card needs V4.16 minimum; loop repeat and mimic panels require MRC software V1.09 minimum. Area delays and extensions are set as part of commissioning.

Keep the switch-to-interface cable run within 30m. The button measures 85mm high by 85mm wide, with a depth of 25mm plus the terminal block. Allow enough backbox depth for the assembly and secure all terminal connections. Tighten the fixing screws without a powered screwdriver and do not apply an insulation tester to the switch. Test the area alarms monthly and clean the switch with a dry, soft, lint-free cloth.

FAQs

What is supplied with SAFE-WHITE-S-SPARE?

SAFE-WHITE-S-SPARE includes a switch and wiring loom. It is the replacement for the white single switch used in the corresponding SAFE kit. The switch operates through an S4-34450 interface, which connects it to the alarm system. Its single control provides local alarm silence and test control. The switch-to-interface cable run is limited to 30m. Area settings and the assignment of the interface to that area form part of the commissioned system.

How does SAFE-WHITE-S-SPARE silence local alarms?

During the initial smoke-alert delay, hold the switch down until the red LED lights, then release it. This silences alarms in its assigned area. Delay periods and permitted extensions depend on the commissioned area settings. Near the end of the delay, the red LED flashes and the alert sounds; another press can extend the delay where configured. If smoke remains when the allowed delay expires, evacuation alarms follow the system cause and effect.

How do I test the alarms with SAFE-WHITE-S-SPARE?

Test SAFE-WHITE-S-SPARE while the system is in its normal condition. Press the button downwards for about five seconds, until the red LED lights and the area alarms sound. Keep it pressed for the test, then release it; the alarms continue for five seconds before stopping and the LED turns off. Carry out the area alarm test monthly. The same button operates the silence function during the initial smoke-alert delay, so its action depends on the system condition.

How is SAFE-WHITE-S-SPARE connected and mounted?

SAFE-WHITE-S-SPARE connects to an S4-34450 interface over a cable run of up to 30m. Channel 1 handles silence and test, and channel 3 drives the red LED. The switch is 85mm high and 85mm wide, with a depth of 25mm plus its terminal block. Allow sufficient backbox depth, secure the wire connections and tighten the fixing screws without a powered screwdriver. Do not apply an insulation tester to the switch.

Does SAFE-WHITE-S-SPARE provide the double button’s smoke-disable function?

SAFE-WHITE-S-SPARE uses single-button SAFE operation. Its downward press starts an area alarm test in normal conditions and silences the local alarms during the initial smoke-alert delay. Pre-event smoke disablement belongs to double-button SAFE operation. The single button connects through interface channel 1 for test and silence, with channel 3 for its red LED; channels 2 and 4 are unused. On a double-button switch, the upper test position has a green LED and the lower silence position has a red LED.
