Overview
What it is and how it fits the system.
The Xtralis PIP-024 is a 25mm large check valve (blow-out / non-return valve) fitted at the end of a VESDA aspirating smoke detection pipe network to allow compressed-air purging. Moulded in ABS with a 25mm ID bore and supplied in red for service identification, it operates from -40C to 80C and weighs 454g.
Technical overview
PIP-024 is the Xtralis VESDA large check valve, a 25 mm non-return fitting placed at the very end of an aspirating smoke detection pipe network so that the pipework can be purged with compressed air. Also described as a blow-out valve, the fitting is installed with its directional arrow pointing away from the pipe network.
Jointing onto the ASD pipe uses ABS solvent cement, a method the manufacturer notes as easy, and the valve can be dismantled to aid cleaning. Valve fitting orientation and pipe jointing are both covered in the installation notes.
Moulded in ABS under a quality system approved to BS EN ISO 9001, the standard valve is finished in red, a colour that identifies its service as fire; grey is also listed. Compatibility spans VESDA and FAAST FLEX aspirating smoke detection systems, and PIP-024 takes over from the earlier UK109070.
