Overview
What it is and how it fits the system.
The Gent M501MEA is a monitor (input/output) module that installs in a single gang junction box directly behind the monitored unit, for use in intelligent two-wire addressable loop systems where the individual address is set on the module. It runs on a 15-32 VDC communications loop with a 400 µA average operating current and a 600 µA maximum alarm current. It uses a standard 47K Ohm end-of-line resistance and operates from -10C to 55C at 10% to 93% non-condensing humidity.
Technical overview
M501MEA is an addressable mini input module within the Addressable Interface modules range, built to interface with contact devices such as security contacts and waterflow switches. Designed to sit inside the equipment being monitored, the module links a two-wire normally open monitoring line back to an addressable communication loop and reports contact status to the control panel.
The communication loop presents a nominal 15 to 32 V dc, and average consumption stays at 400 µA while polling once every five seconds. Alarm current rises to a maximum of 600 µA, short-circuit current reaches 217 µA, and the monitored line tolerates up to 1.5 kΩ of wiring resistance with a maximum of 11 volts to the end-of-line point.
Measuring 33 mm high, 71 mm wide and 15 mm deep, the module carries a minimum wire length of 150 mm and works from -10°C to 55°C at 10 to 93 per cent non-condensing humidity. Addressing follows the job drawings, all shown wiring is supervised and power limited, and certification to EN 54-17:2005 applies under DOP-IOD005 with notified body 0359.
Placement typically falls within a single-gang junction box directly behind the monitored unit, held with cable ties or adhesive bases where rigid fixing is needed. The M501MEA relays only fire-related signal information to the control panel and does not monitor the secondary line for short-circuit faults.
