Overview
What it is and how it fits the system.
The Xtralis ISP-002 is a replacement fine filter element for the FT series, supplied as a pack of 10 for ICAM aspirating smoke detection equipment. Graded fine at 45 ppi and finished in black, it is a field-replaceable consumable that protects the detection chamber from particulate ingress.
Technical overview
The Xtralis ISP-002 is a replacement filter element for FT series ICAM aspirating smoke detection equipment. Within an aspirating system, air is continuously drawn from the protected area through a sampling pipe network and delivered to the detection chamber, where it is analysed for the earliest signs of combustion. The filter element sits in that airflow path and captures airborne dust and particulate before it can reach the sensing optics, helping to keep the chamber clean and the detector's response stable over its service life.
Because it is a field-replaceable consumable, the element is designed to be exchanged periodically as part of routine maintenance rather than repaired. Keeping it fresh preserves sampling airflow and reduces the likelihood of contamination-related faults or nuisance signals from a fouled detection chamber. The fine grade suits environments where finer airborne particles are a concern.
The element is intended solely for use with compatible ICAM equipment and appears in the ICAM Accessories List, which should be consulted to confirm suitability for a given detector. For physical installation details, including how the element is seated and secured within the housing, refer to the relevant installation manual.
