Description
One aspirator and one exhaust outlet draw air through each detector in the addressable FAAST FLEX family, and FLX-SP-04 is the spare that renews that fan unit. It is one of the field-replaceable maintenance parts of the detector, alongside the FLX-SP-01NG sensing module and the FLX-SP-02 filters.
Two cautions govern the job. Contact with the aspirator can cause a burn injury, so it must be allowed to cool down first, and electrostatic precautions must be followed to prevent damage to the detector. The detector should also go in Service mode before the exchange begins.
FLX-SP-04 is the replacement aspirator for detectors in the addressable FAAST FLEX range, the air-drawing fan unit that sits behind the Aspirator Cover, known in that range as Addressable FAAST FLEX Aspirator. Each such detector has a single aspirator and a single exhaust outlet.

Behind the Aspirator Cover, whose six locking tabs give way to a small screwdriver, the old unit pulls out and its cables unplug; note how the aspirator and the cable are orientated. Expect the cover and its rubber gasket to stick, needing pressure to part them. The replacement plugs onto the header inside the unit, the cover goes back until every tab is secure, and closing the main cover starts a fresh initialisation phase automatically.

A small screwdriver releases the Aspirator Cover, which is held by six locking tabs and lifted off; the aspirator cover and its rubber gasket may stick, so pressure is applied to pull the cover away. The aspirator is then pulled out and its cables disconnected, with the orientation of the aspirator and the cable noted. Fitting the new unit means connecting the aspirator connector to the header, refitting the cover until all six tabs are secured, and closing the main cover, after which the device automatically starts a new initialisation phase.
