Description
F-A3384-000 renews the 30 micron filter of a FAAST 8100 series aspiration detector. It is an entire filter assembly, fully assembled and ready to use, so an exchange is a straight swap: the spent item pulls clear and its successor slides home. It also serves as the replacement filter element on FAAST X Series aspirating detectors.
Its home is behind the Display Door, tucked beneath the User Interface Card and retained by a pair of Philips head screws. Isolation comes first: pull the 24 Volt power connector off the unit or unplug the converter at its outlet, then disable the system so that no unwanted alarm is raised. Leave the supply live and the detector drops into Service Mode by itself the moment those screws come away, shutting down the fan and the sensing chamber, lighting the filter fault indicator and setting the urgent relay. Screws go back at 6in-lb (0.7N-m), or ¼ turn, never over-tightened.

F-A3384-000 is the replacement air filter assembly for FAAST 8100 series aspiration detectors, a 30 micron filter that is fully assembled and ready to use. It is also the replacement 8000 Series air filter, and the replacement filter element for FAAST X Series aspirating detectors.
Within the detector the filter sits behind the Display Door, under the User Interface Card, and two Philips head screws hold it to the unit. Opening the Display Door and taking out the User Interface card in front of the filter gives access; the whole assembly is then changed as one, the old filter pulled out and a new one slid back into position before the User Interface card is carefully reinstalled.
Work should begin with the system turned off, by removing the 24 Volt power connector from the unit or unplugging the converter from its power outlet, and with the system disabled to prevent unwanted alarms. If power is not removed, the unit automatically enters Service Mode as soon as the screws come out of the filter, which takes power off the fan and the sensing chamber, illuminates the filter fault indicator and sets the urgent relay. On refitting, the two Philips head screws are torqued to 6in-lb (0.7N-m) or ¼ turn and must not be over-tightened.
