Description

The Xtralis VSP-990-330 is a cylindrical 6mm microbore tube for the VESDA-E VEA aspirating smoke detector, used to connect the detector's sampling ports to its sampling points. It forms the air-sampling pathway within VEA aspirating smoke detection installations.

A field issue has been reported against this tube: material reaching site may be deformed, causing leakage where the tube seats into the VEA detector sampling ports and sampling points.

Two remediations are documented. The first inserts a brass tube from Parker Legris, part 0127-06-00, at the tube ends entering the detector and the sampling point. The second fits the Xtralis VSP-1001 tube connector with up to 25cm (10 inches) of SMC nylon tube, part TS0604-B-100, added at the tube ends and covered with heat shrink; VSP-1001 is the 6mm-to-6mm straight union catalogued for this purpose.
